Maurice's story
Richard helped us retire early and gave us the confidence to enjoy it.
My name is Maurice Healey. I’ve been a client of Salisbury House Wealth for approximately ten years. I’ve had personal dealings with the financial adviser, Richard Hughes, for a little bit longer, as we were introduced in the year 2014.
He was introduced as a pension expert, and given our age, myself and my wife, we were late 50s and retirement was looming, so the discussions were all about pensions and planning for our retirement, hopefully, an early retirement.
Over the years that we’ve dealt with Richard, we’ve found him to be a larger-than-life character with a good sense of humour, but on a business level, we find him to be very knowledgeable, very trustworthy and honest.
Before we retired, he spent some time with us rearranging some of our pension arrangements. He also spent time discussing our savings, investments, tax arrangements, inheritances, and on retirement, once we made the decision, set up a ten-year plan for us to follow.
We have dealt with Richard now for a number of years, and on what is a very important subject, Richard has always been able to make our meetings enjoyable, and I think that’s the best thing I can say about Richard.
I think working with Richard and Salisbury House gives us confidence in our retirement. We go through a process with Richard. Richard comes up with ideas. If we have to make a big decision, he comes up with options; he comes up with ideas; we discuss them thoroughly, and then he leaves us to make informed decisions. And this is how we’ve kind of worked as a pattern of work over the years that’s been very successful for us. So Richard has enabled us to retire early and then have confidence living through our retirement.
We’ve been so pleased with the advice we’ve had from Richard and Salisbury House Wealth that we’ve actually introduced Richard to both our children, and I know they’ve taken out personal pension plans with them.
We’ve also introduced them to very good friends of ours who needed a lot of financial advice, again, particularly with pensions, and we certainly wouldn’t hesitate to introduce them to other people we thought were requiring advice as well.
